Editorial Policy

This policy explains how IoTSamples creates and maintains public guides, device records, project briefs, and planning-tool copy.

Editorial goals

Our content should answer the searcher's practical question, make limitations visible, and provide enough source context for an independent check. We prioritize clarity over marketing language and do not hide an important tradeoff to make a device or idea sound better.

Source preference

For technical and standards claims, we prefer sources in this order:

1. Official standards, protocol specifications, and government publications.
2. Official manufacturer documentation, datasheets, product-change notices, and repositories.
3. Academic or institutional sources with a clear method and publication record.
4. High-quality secondary sources when a primary source is unavailable or when independent context is the subject.

An adjacent link should support the specific claim near it. A link to a manufacturer's home page is not enough when a datasheet or product guide is available.

AI assistance disclosure

AI may help organize search intent, extract questions, propose outlines, identify statements that need sources, produce a first draft, edit for readability, and run consistency checks.

AI output is not treated as a source. A draft must not invent hands-on use, test results, prices, quotations, certifications, product availability, or safety conclusions. Technical statements are checked against cited material before publication.

Review checklist

Before publishing or materially updating a page, we check:

• whether the title and introduction directly answer the intended query;
• whether quantities, protocol behavior, board features, and standards claims have suitable sources;
• whether sources are primary and still accessible where practical;
• whether facts are clearly separated from examples and editorial judgment;
• whether medical, industrial, electrical, security, food, traffic, and other consequential limits are stated;
• whether tool links are genuinely relevant;
• whether the page has one clear H1, readable tables, descriptive metadata, and an update date;
• whether the text avoids fabricated personal experience and unsupported superlatives; and
• whether another person or independent AI review can identify contradictions, missing caveats, or citation gaps.

Updates and review dates

Articles show published and updated dates. Device data also records a review date. A review date means the listed facts and source links were checked at that time; it does not guarantee that a manufacturer, retailer, standard, or service has not changed since.

Material corrections update the page date. Minor spelling or formatting fixes may not.

Commercial independence

Advertising may fund the site in the future. Advertising does not purchase a ranking, recommendation, citation, or favorable conclusion. Sponsored or affiliate relationships, if introduced, will be disclosed where the reader encounters them.

Corrections process

Send corrections to hello@iotsamples.com. Include the page URL, disputed statement, supporting source, and preferred correction when possible.

We assess whether the source supports the claim, whether newer official material supersedes it, and whether the change affects other pages or datasets. Confirmed material errors are corrected and the update date is revised. We may retain wording when credible sources disagree, but the disagreement should be described rather than hidden.
