Privacy Policy

How IoTSamples handles tool selections, server logs, analytics, advertising, cookies, messages, and privacy requests.

Last updated: 2026-07-31

This Privacy Policy describes information that may be processed when you visit IoTSamples, use a planning tool, or contact us. It does not claim legal certification, and local privacy rights may vary by jurisdiction.

Planning-tool data

The Device Finder, Project Idea Generator, and Device Comparison calculate results in your browser from local rule sets and catalogs. Tool selections are not sent to an IoTSamples recommendation API for calculation.

The comparison tool stores search terms, filters, sort order, and selected device IDs in the page URL so you can restore or share a view. Anyone who receives that URL can see those values. Do not enter personal or confidential information into the search field.

Server and security logs

Our hosting and infrastructure providers may process request information needed to deliver and protect the site. This can include IP address, request time, requested path, referring page, user agent, response status, and diagnostic or security events.

Retention depends on operational needs, security investigations, provider settings, backups, and applicable obligations. We aim to keep data only as long as reasonably needed for those purposes, but we do not promise one universal log-retention period across every provider.

Analytics

Optional analytics may measure page views, referral sources, broad device characteristics, and interactions such as starting or completing a tool. Google Consent Mode v2 initializes analytics and advertising storage as denied. Analytics identifiers are disabled at launch unless configured by the operator and activated under the applicable consent setup.

Where consent is required, analytics storage should remain denied until an appropriate choice is recorded. Aggregated metrics can still be incomplete or affected by browser controls and consent decisions.

Advertising

IoTSamples may use Google AdSense or another advertising provider in the future. Advertising can involve cookies, device identifiers, approximate location derived from IP address, ad impressions, and interaction data, subject to the provider's settings and your consent choices.

AdSense should not be enabled for EEA, UK, and Switzerland traffic until the operator configures Google AdSense Privacy & messaging or another Google-certified TCF consent-management platform as required. A custom notice by itself is not treated as certified CMP compliance.

Cookies and local storage

The site may use storage needed for language, theme, security, session, consent, and other requested functionality. Optional analytics or advertising storage should be activated only according to the configured consent controls. See the Cookie Policy for categories and browser controls.

Messages you send

When you email us, we receive the address, message, headers, and attachments you choose to provide. We use them to respond, investigate a correction or request, protect the service, and retain an appropriate business record.

Do not send unnecessary sensitive information. Email is not a secure channel for passwords, private keys, payment-card data, or government identifiers.

Service providers and disclosure

We may use hosting, security, email, analytics, advertising, database, and other providers to operate the site. They may process information under their own terms and our configuration. We may also preserve or disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to lawful requests, investigate abuse, or protect rights and safety.

We do not sell tool answers as personal profiles. If our practices materially change, this policy will be updated before or when the change is introduced as appropriate.

Your choices and requests

You can:

  • decline optional storage through available consent controls;
  • use browser settings to block or delete cookies and local storage;
  • avoid adding identifying information to tool URLs;
  • use privacy or content-blocking features provided by your browser; and
  • request access, correction, or deletion where applicable.

Some browser restrictions can prevent preferences or requested features from working.
